I have never solicited donations for Gathering Goat Eggs, and I don't intend to start. It costs me less to run this thing than a week's worth of coffee. I have, however, just installed a Paypal donation button in the left sidebar for a particular project. I'm going to make a Christmas donation to The Heifer Project, and I thought if we pooled our money, we could afford one of the niftier donation packages, an entire goat, a llama, or maybe even the Knitting Basket package.
Here's how it works: click on the cute girl and goat button, and you'll go to a donation page for my Paypal account. I'll collect donations from now until Twelfth Night 2006. I've already decided to donate a fixed amount, and on top of that, I will match outside donations dollar for dollar. On January 7, 2006, I'll announce the total amount we've raised, and the specific gift and country our project will fund.
If I can figure out how to do it, I'll also get some script to post a running total of donations.
